Our Vision for Community Living

Abigail Non-Profit Residences and Care is dedicated to improving the lives of seniors by reframing ageing, care, and housing. Our mission is to provide health and social care solutions, engage in issues of care and housing, and offer volunteer work opportunities for seniors. We offer lifelong learning and work skills through intergenerational learning and workplace skills for seniors through volunteer connections and placements in the larger Grey Bruce Community using Volunteer Ambassadors and Professional Consultants. Our Volunteer Services Network operates to serve and support volunteerism opportunities based on a profile of businesses, agencies requiring volunteers, and seniors needing an opportunity to be matched based on skills and abilities. We also offer intergenerational workshops that are topic and issue related by senior volunteers.

Some common reasons people volunteer:
• Working towards a cause they believe in.
• Helping others.
• Achieving personal or career-related goals.
• Contributing to community.
• Religious obligations.
• Sharing skills and experiences.
• Networking.
• Sense of well-being and belonging.

OUR volunteers may be intergenerational, families, youth and our volunteer roles provide an opportunity for leadership, make a difference and give back to families, individuals, youth and seniors.
